Leave Iraq to the Iraqis

"The Basra offensive "? which opened on March 25 "? quickly stalled amid strong resistance from the outnumbered militiamen, despite artillery and air support provided by U.S. and British forces.

During the attack more than 1,000 security troops "? including a full infantry battalion "? refused to fight or joined the militias, handing them weapons and vehicles.

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Abdul-Karim Khalaf told reporters Sunday that the government had fired 421 policemen who have not returned to duty since fighting ended. They included 37 senior police officers ranging in rank from lieutenant colonel to brigadier general."

They don't care , won't fight. Leave'em or killem all.

Saddam deserved to be removed from power. He deserved to be tried, convicted and hanged. He was a tyrant and he absolutely DID have WMD. Since he USED them that can't be denied. The people of Iraq deserved a better way of life that he let them have.

Now as much as it hurts to say this, the entire Middle East was more stable before we removed Saddam from power. Evidently his way was the right way. He kept the people under control by being a murderer and a tyrant. His way was wrong, but with these people his way worked.

So, in your eyes, I guess the life the people of Iraq live now is better than under Saddam?...I don't think so. Iraqis don't share our values, and supposing they do is a mistake many of americans have made. Saddam kept the Middle East in check and controlled a country that is no longer (and possibly may never be again) under control. Ousting Saddam is a mistake we are yet to pay for. And he may have had WMDs 25 years ago, but he didn't have em when we invaded Iraq.

No WMDs in DS II. We should have left as soon as Saddam was brought down and that is a reach. And as far as Iraq deserving a better way of life, sure- but why should we get stuck with bill and the kids have to do the fighting for them? It is a civil war now. Perhaps the next generation will take off the blinders.

I'm not defending the war. I did at one time, but no more.
Saddam knew how to control people and he was very good at it. I said he DESERVED what happened to him. I didn't say it should have happened. That entire region would be more stable today if he was still in power.

By that reasoning, there are alot of world leaders that deserve what Saddam got....starting in DC. But that wouldn't make it right to do the same to them.

The way of life in Iraq is worse for probably 1/3 of its citizens. For the other 2/3 it is probably the same to slightly better because they are not of the wrong sect. Where it gets worse is that Saddam kept Iran in check. As bad as they are, they knew Saddam was worse.

So, by that reasoning, for 2/3 of the people in Iraq, there is no war, no bombs, no destruction, or daily suicide bombings, etc?...not hardly. When the cleansing is over, there'll only be one sect left...

nothing like a bunch of douche bags that haven't been there just watched the news since Saddam has been gone arguing over how its going over there...
